From the South Entrance Station, continue following the road you are on for 5 miles, and it will lead you to the Visitor Center. Just before the parking areas, the road curves to the left. You can park your vehicle in one of four parking areas and find your way to the Visitor Center, in the center of the open plaza where restroom buildings, the park store, and the bicycle rental are also located. Description

Visitor Center Theater 7:45 to 8:45 pm - Monday, May 19, 2025.
Evening Program - by Jason Nez - Diné (Navajo) Archaeologist

  • An advocate for Indigenous peoples, Jason focuses on the preservation of Cultural Resources and their cultural and historical significances. 
  • He brings his experience as a former NPS Interpretive Ranger and has worked with various federal agencies and cultural resource management firms, including the Navajo National Archaeology Department. He will discuss his career journey and the significance of being an Indigenous Diné archaeologist. 
  • Jason, from Coalmine Mesa, Arizona, belonging to the Zuni-Edgewater Clan and born for the Salt Clan. He holds a degree in Environmental Science from Northern Arizona University (2004) and currently serves as an Archaeologist (Fire) at Grand Canyon National Park. 
  • In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time on his family ranch in Coalmine Mesa with his horse, Whiskey.
