Historic Middletown Walking Tour

Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park (CEBE) is offering a Historic Middletown ranger-led walking tour on Friday, September 6. This 1.5-hour tour will begin at 5:00 pm. Meet at the National Park Service Visitor Center, 7712 Main Street, Middletown, Va. Restrooms are available prior to the tour.

Learn how the Valley Turnpike affected the lives of townsfolk before, during, and after the Civil War. How did the citizens of Middletown experience the Battle of Cedar Creek? Stops along the walk include the historic Wayside Inn and the St. Thomas Chapel. The Middletown Historic District is registered on the National Register of Historic Places. 

Estimated 1-mile (1.6 km) roundtrip of walking on paved sidewalks. This is a recurring program scheduled for the first Friday of every month through October 2024. 

This tour is free and open to the public. Bring water, sunscreen, and comfortable footwear.
