Yank’s Station, at the present-day town of Meyers, California, served the Pony Express as a relay station Nov. 18, 1860-Nov. 20, 1861. Operated by Ephraim “Yank” Clement, Yank’s replaced Lake Valley Station on the Pony Express schedule when the route switched from Hawley’s Grade to the Johnson Pass Toll Road.

Yank’s Station was also a stagecoach stop, a trading post, and a busy, 3-story hostelry with a barn and large corrals. The station was destroyed by fire in November 1938.

Although nothing remains of the station and associated hostelry, several markers and a granite monument stand near the site at the edge of a shopping center off US-50.
