Ranger guided cave tours are required for access to Jewel Cave and all visitors who participate in a tour must have a ticket.
Due to limited space on each cave tour, advanced ticket reservations are highly recommended. In collaboration with Recreation.gov, Jewel Cave National Monument offers advanced ticket sales for a majority of cave tours. Advanced sales are offered for all cave tours and are offered for the scheduled times. Please be advised that tour times and tour availability change throughout the year due to visitation and available staffing.
Visitors can purchase tour tickets on Recreation.gov up until noon the day before the tour in the slow season, and know throughout the summer booking can close quicker if the tours sell out. All financial transactions with reservations are administered by Recreation.gov. Using reservations available on recreation.gov and making a reservation is strongly recommended. Availability of walk-up tickets is not guaranteed.
If staffing is available to provide additional tours, some tickets are sold on-site at the Ticket Kiosk on a first come first serve basis on the day of the tour and are limited by tour type. Tours often sell out by mid to late morning during the summer season (May through September). During the peak season or a holiday weekend, it is advised that visitors arrive in the early morning to purchase on-site tickets. Arriving 30 minutes to an hour before the tour time may mean you arrive after that tour is already sold out. During the off-season (October through April), tickets may be sold in the Visitor Center. Learn more about tour times at Operating Hours & Seasons. To learn more about purchasing tickets in advance and tours, go to Guided Tours.
