The Stevens Canyon Entrance is open during the summer season, typically June through late September. From May 24 - September 2, 2024, timed entry reservations are required to enter the Paradise Corridor between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm. The Stevens Canyon Entrance is one of the entrances for the Paradise Corridor, along with Nisqually Entrance in the southwest corner of the park.

The Stevens Canyon Entrance is located at the east entrance to Stevens Canyon Road 2.4 miles north of Ohanapecosh and 13 miles north of Packwood, Washington, off SR 123 in the southeast corner of the park. This entrance is next to the popular Grove of the Patriarchs Trailhead; have patience and arrive early to avoid lines. At the entrance station, you can pay the entrance fee, purchase passes, and get information about Mount Rainier National Park, including the main brochure and map.

Stevens Canyon Road was primarily built during the late 1930s, but work was paused during World War II and the road did not open to the public until 1957. The road is the only one within the park connecting the east and west sides of the park. Stevens Canyon Entrance Station was built in 1964, in the NPS Mission 66 style with a large, planted island between the travel lanes. While Stevens Canyon Road is part of the Mount Rainier National Park historic district, the entrance station is not a contributing structure.
