Significance:

Sportsman’s Hall, also called Twelve-mile Station, served as a Pony Express home station April 3, 1860 – June 30, 1861, and thereafter was a Pony relay station until the November 20, 1861. Some elements of the station, perhaps the barn, still stand as part of an operating restaurant, also called Sportsman’s Hall.

Sportsman’s Hall, also called Twelve-mile Station, was a Pony Express home station from April 3, 1860 to July 1, 1861. The station, built in 1852, was also a hotel that served travelers until it burned down in 1898, but elements of the original structure survive as part of a restaurant at the site. A monument in front of the restaurant commemorates the site’s Pony Express history.
