About

The Ranger III is a passenger and freight ferry operated by Isle Royale National Park. The Ranger III makes passenger trips from Houghton, Michigan to Rock Harbor on Isle Royale. The Ranger III takes approximately 6 hours to cross Lake Superior each way. The Ranger III has made over 4,000 Lake Superior crossings throughout its history. Each of these voyages brought supplies and family connections to island rangers, and visitors whose park memories began when they first stepped aboard.
