A granite monument with historical information stands along Durock Rd at Cameron Park, California, marking the approximate location of Duroc House. This was not an original Pony Express station, but was added to the route on July 1, 1861, after Wells Fargo took over the operation from Placerville to San Francisco. Nothing remains of Duroc House, and very little concerning its history is available.
To visit the marker, takeUS-50 Exit 35 at Cameron Park, California, and turn south onto Durock Rd. Continue 0.4 mile. The marker is in front of a fenced industrial park on the north side of the road.
