Amphitheater, Scenic View/Photo Spot

Note: the amphitheater benches are being renovated and should be installed during spring 2025. It is still possible to walk up to the railing for exceptional views of the canyon during sunrise and sunset.

Just a short walk east of Yavapai Geology Museum, Yavapai Point Amphitheater is a great place to take a photo, enjoy a park ranger program, and relax. Walk up to the railing and check out the rock samples embedded in the posts. Touch a piece of Vishnu Schist, dating back nearly 1.8 billion years ago!

From the amphitheater, follow the blacktop footpath east, along the rim of the canyon, for 0.7 mile (1.1 km) to Mather Point and the Visitor Center, with parking lots 1-4.

During warmer months, Park Ranger programs about geology are held here. Inquire at the Yavapai Geology Museum for more information and times.
