Quick Facts
Significance:
Scenic Overlook - Shuttle Bus Stop

Bicycle - Rack, Bus/Shuttle Stop, Wheelchair Accessible

NOT IN SERVICE DURING WINTER

Hermit Road is open to private vehicles (under 22 feet) during the months of December, January and Februay, when there is no bus service.

  • Between March 1, and November 30, Hermit Road can only be accessed by the free Hermits Rest (Red) Route shuttle bus, on foot, bicycle, or by commercial tour.

Nearby:

  • Canyon Overlook
  • Vault Toilets
  • Canyon Rim Trail

This shuttle stop is actually just west Hopi Point, and is a short walk on a paved footpath to a wider, more open vista. From the bus stop, face the canyon, then follow the path to the right (east) to Hopi Point.

Also, the only restroom along Hermit Road between Grand Canyon Village and Hermits Rest is located at Hopi Point.

Hopi Point is especially popular for those seeking an overlook for sunrise or sunset.

Throughout the day, the Hermit Road (Red) Route shuttle buses stop here and are only outbound buses, traveling west, to Hermits Rest

However, each day after sunset, special shuttles do stop here to return visitors to the Village. These special shuttles do not stop at the regular shuttle stop, but rather in the large loop at Hopi Point, (directly to the east of the regular stop, near the restroom).
