Entrance Passes for Sale, Information
The Granite Canyon Entrance Station is one of four entrances to Grand Teton National Park. Here you can purchase a variety of park passes and grab a map and newspaper from a fee station ranger (when staffed). Our website lists all of the available passes.
The station is located halfway between the towns of Moose and Wilson on Moose-Wilson Road. This is a common entrance for visitors coming from Teton Village, which is located just south of the entrance station.
No reservations are required to enter Grand Teton National Park but there are entrance fees. The park is open 24 hours a day, so if no one is at the entrance station when you arrive, you can drive through and pay your park fee online.
Vehicles longer than 23 feet and 8 feet wide, and vehicles with trailers are PROHIBITED from driving on Moose-Wilson Road. Bikers and wildlife frequent this corridor so please adhere to posted speed limits. Do not stop in the roadway and only use designated pullouts. Be aware that the portion of Moose-Wilson Road from the Granite Canyon Trailhead to the Death Canyon Trailhead is closed from November 1st to early summer.
Name Origin
Early explorers misidentified the rocks found in the canyon as igneous granite. In the upper canyon, the rocks are actually metamorphic metagabbro that resembles granite.
