List of all batteries in Fort Pickens.
These batteries stretching alongside a road, are formed of blocky, concrete structures with flat roofs. Most of the structures are one to two stories high, with an occasional taller, covered observation platform looking away from the road out south over the Gulf of Mexico and Fort Pickens. Sets of concrete steps or metal stairs provide access to the upper levels.
Currently the batteries are surrounded by a chain link fence closing it off to all public access due to the unsafe conditions presented by the deteriorating structure. Please do not go beyond the fence. The National Park Service is pursuing restoration options for the historical site.
