Today Superintendent Glen Livermont announced, "Due to the upcoming federal holidays, the Monument Visitor Center will be closed on December 25th, 2010 and January 1st, 2011. This will give staff time to spend the days with family and friends. While the visitor center will be closed, the Circle Trail will remain open for those wanting to walk the trails."

Superintendent Livermont encourages, "Everyone to visit the Pipestone National Monument during the holidays, to provide an opportunity for family and friends to see the Visitor Center and its exhibits. The Monument Visitor Center is open daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm."

Superintendent Livermont would like to remind everyone the portion of the Circle Trail along the quartzite cliffs is still closed due to trail damage resulting from the recent flooding, but visitors can still access the rest of the trails including the falls. Everyone is encouraged to come out and walk the trail or watch the wildlife, and take advantage of the many numerous winter photo opportunities. Don't forget to wear warm clothing and boots, if you decide to do a trail walk, and when there is a lot of snow some of the trails are not cleared.

Purchase an annual pass to Pipestone National Monument or purchase the Interagency Annual Pass which provides access in the United States to the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and United States Department of Agriculture - Forest Service sites which charge entrance or amenity fees. Both passes are good for one full year from month of purchase. We also have available Senior Passes which are good for the lifetime of the holder of the pass.

The staff at Pipestone National Monument wish everyone Happy Holidays!
