Pea Ridge National Military Park “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” program.
Take a walk on the wild side with NPS Park Guide Ken Lockhart on Saturday mornings in July, August, and September at Pea Ridge National Military Park. Ken will conduct a Wildland Scene Investigation (W.S.I) course to include wildlife observation, beginning tracking, outdoor safety, and Leave No Trace wilderness ethics. Participation is limited to 25 so please call ahead at 479-451-8122 x 1227 to reserve a spot. Program will start at 10am at the Elkhorn Tavern (Tour Stop # 8), so participants should arrive 5-10 minutes before 10 am. Participants should bring insect repellent, lawn chair and plenty of drinking water. This program will last approximately 2- 2 ½ hours.
Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves and commemorates the site of the March 1862 Civil War battle that helped Union forces gain control of Missouri. The park is located 10 miles north of Rogers just off US Highway 62.
