The following is from the 2004 National Park Service study Patriots of Color researched and prepared by George Quintal:

Nothing is known of Prince’s early life.^I

He served at Battle Road in the company of Capt. Thomas White, in Col. William Heath’s regiment. On the roll he is listed as “Josh’a Boylston’s Prince.”^II
