Park Collection

It the policy of the National Park Service and Palo Alto Battlefield to make its natural and cultural resources available for educational and research purposes. This access cannot:

  • Endanger the item’s preservation and security
  • Conflict with Federal legislation (such as the Copyright Act, the Freedom of Information Act) or state legislation (such as privacy and public laws)

Requesting Access

Email us to request access to the museum collection, archival and manuscript materials, museum collection records, and park library. The request should outline specific items they would like to view and for what purpose.

Hours of Operation

Hours of access to Palo Alto’s Museum Collection are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Access is by scheduled appointment only. Please call (956) 541-2785 ext. 331 to schedule an appointment.

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Special Collections

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) University Library in Brownsville is home to a unique U.S.-Mexican War research collection, housed in the Special Collections & University Archives.

The research collection is the result of an agreement signed between Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park and UTRGV in January 2022. The collection features numerous primary and secondary sources, including battle map reproductions and reports, as well as Palo Alto Battlefield publications.
