General Management Plan Information

          What will it be like in 20 years?

GMP Update (3/12/2012): The park's draft General Management Plan (GMP) continues to be reviewed by the National Park Service's Denver Service Center and the Midwest Regional Office in Omaha, Nebraska,"states interim Superintendent Bill Black. "The process is taking longer than we anticipated."

Eventually, all the review comments from the park, regional office and Denver Service Center will be incorporated into the draft and then sent to the National Park Service leadership in Washington DC for their review. Once this review is completed, the draft General Management Plan will be released for public review and comment. "Due to the delay in the internal review process, release for public review and comment has also been pushed back. We have no information on when the public release will occur," Black explains.

The park will inform the public when the review and comment period will occur.We encourage and welcome your input on the draft General Management Plan.

The public has had many questions concerning park operations in the interim until the new General Management Plan is approved. "The park continues to be managed using current law, policy and guidelines," states Black. For example, no decision has been made by the National Park Service or Ozark National Scenic Riverways about the current boat horsepower (hp) restrictions on the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers.
