Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm welcomes all individuals with a disability! Our park strives to make its park accessible to visitors by removing barriers and communicating accessibility. Explore the accessibility page for relevant information before your visit. Most of roads and paths at Oxon Hill Farm are gravel or dirt. If you or someone in your group is in a wheelchair or has other mobility or special needs, please call the park before your visit at (771) 208-1536 so that we can make sure to accommodate these needs as best as possible. Braille park brochures are at the visitor center.

Oxon Hill Farm Visitor Barn Bookstore

The Visitor Barn Bookstore is located in between the windmill and bathroom facilities.

Parking:

  • The Parking lot is located at the entrance of the property.
  • There are four accessible spaces, 70 standard spaces, and three Bus/Van spaces available located on the left side.
  • Accessible spots have marks that are visible.
  • The Parking lot is well paved and well maintained.

Path from Parking to Visitor Center:

  • The pathway into the farm and to the visitor center consists of two different passages. A gravel road to the left and a dirt road to the right.
  • The gravel and dirt roads are susceptible to rain washout. The wash out can create divots in the paths but are promptly filled in by maintenance with dirt or more gravel. The dirt road has a more uneven layout due to land slope and frequent walkers.
  • The walk from the parking lot to the Visitor Center from the gravel road is approximately 1107 ft. & the pathway is 15 ft. wide. The Walk from the Barnside dirt road to the Visitor Center is approximately 1100 ft.

Access to Inside:

  • There are no lifts or ramps available for entry. The visitor center has no automatic doors.
  • The width of the entrance door is 35 ½ inches wide, it is a double door that requires you to pull down on a handle and pull open. The door does not take more than 5 pounds (lbs) of strength to use.
  • The pathway entrance is gravel made with a slope on the left side entrance that descends from a 5.95 degree slope to a 7.85 degree slope.
  • The interior floor is level with vinyl flooring. The is room to navigate around the visitor center in a wheelchair, the visitor center is 39 ft Long and 34 ft wide.

Information Desk

  • The information desk is about is 4 ft from the entry door. The desk is approximately two (2) ft tall.
  • There are no wheelchairs or assistive listening devices available to borrow. However, there are audio guided tours available through the NPS phone app.
  • Braille publications of Oxon Hill Farm are located next to the information desk. There are no large text publications available.
  • The whole farm is generally quiet, the visitor center is quiet based upon visitors. Visitors may hear animals sounds when exploring the park.

Water Fountain

  • There are two water fountains located within the visitor center. The path landing space in front of the water fountain one is 4ft concrete. The path landing space in front of the water fountain two is 2ft x 9ft concrete.

Restrooms

  • The restrooms are located just south of the visitor center. If you are facing the visitor center, the restrooms are to your left. Each restroom has one wheelchair-accessible stall.
  • From the visitor center, the surface transitions from gravel to concrete pavement. From the visitor center the ascending slope is 5.95 degrees to 7.85 degrees.
