Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm welcome all visitors with disabilities. Escape from the city and learn about farm life and rural traditions.

All paths at Oxon Hill Farm are gravel, which may be hard to use with a wheelchair or other mobility device. If you have questions or need more information to plan your visit, please contact us.

Parking

There is one parking area for Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm off Bald Eagle Road.

• 4 accessible spaces with access aisles
• 66 standard spaces
• 4 bus/oversized vehicle spaces

Getting Around

The roads within the park are for service vehicles only. You cannot drive up to the visitor barn or to the farmyard. All pedestrian paths at the park are wide and unpaved.

Visitor Barn and Bookstore

The visitor barn and bookstore is in the farmyard between the windmill and restroom building. Inside, you'll find rangers to answer your questions and books and souvenirs for purchase.

Path from Parking to Visitor Center

The walk from the parking lot to the visitor center is about one-fifth of a mile.

Two gravel paths connect the parking lot to the farmyard and the visitor barn. The path on the left side of the parking lot is the more direct route to the visitor barn. Both paths are wide, but they may be uneven and have puddles after rain.

Entrance

There is a gravel walkway up to the doors of the visitor barn. Benches and chairs are on the front porch.

• The entrance door is 35.5 inches wide. It is not automatic.

• There is room to move around the visitor center with a wheelchair or mobility device.

 

The restrooms are in their own building next to the visitor barn.

Restrooms

Men's and women's restrooms are in the building next to the visitor barn and bookstore. There is a three-inch lip between the gravel path and the building entrance. Both restrooms have an accessible stall and a baby changing table.

The path from the visitor barn to the restrooms is gravel with a slope between 10-14%.

Water Fountains

There is a water fountain with a bottle filler between the doors to the restrooms.

 

There are chickens, horses, cows, goats, and pigs in the farmyard.

Visiting the Farmyard

Gravel paths connect the visitor barn to the animal pastures, chicken house, hay barn, and hog area. You can walk around and see the animals, but please do not feed or touch them.

Picnic Area

There is a small picnic area in the grass next to the parking lot. There are tables, grills, and metal bins for used charcoal. The picnic area is first-come first-served.

There are more picnic tables in the farmyard.

 

American Sign Language Interpretation

To inquire about American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for ranger programs and events, contact us in advance of your visit. See our calendar for current programs.

Braille

You can download the braille ready file (.brf) of our brochure to print at home.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome at Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm. They are legally permitted anywhere that visitors can go. Service animals are individually trained to perform a specific task that assists a person with a disability. See the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) definition of a service animal.

Oxon Hill Farm has a flock of chickens that often free-range throughout the farm. Please keep a close eye on service animals if they may react aggressively to the chickens.

Emotional support, therapy, companion animals, and service animals-in-training are considered pets under the ADA. Pets are not allowed in the farmyard at Oxon Hill Farm.
