Communication

Health and Safety subject site

The Public Risk Management Program (PRMP) manages the NPS Health and Safety subject site, a hub for trip planning and visitor health and safety information that visitors can access to plan their trips to national parks. Visitors can search for information and learn more about their activity (boating, hiking, etc.) and park environment (heat, wildlife, etc.).

Social Media

We promote visitor safety messages on the NPS national level social media platforms. Follow NPS on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Resources

We utilize health literacy principles to standardize risk communication across the Service. We develop resources and implementation guidance for parks, programs, and partners that can be shared on websites, social media and print materials to support injury prevention outreach efforts:
The NPS Trip Planning Banner: Know Before You Go. 1. Discover your park at www.nps.gov 2. Know your limits 3. Pack the 10 essentials 4. Leave your trip plan with a friend 5. Have a plan in case you get lost or injured. Visit www.nps.gov/healthandsafety
PRMP develops risk communication resources like the NPS Trip Planning Take Away Card.
