NPS/S AUTEN

Stephanie (Steph) Auten has been selected as the National Park Service (NPS) Division of Fire and Aviation (DFAM) budget analyst within the Branch of Budget and Administration.

Steph began her career in wildland fire with Grand Canyon National Park in 2012 as a fire program management assistant. She spent 10 years with Grand Canyon becoming proficient in budget and incident business while also mentoring and sharing her knowledge with other park fire program management assistants and employees throughout NPS’s Intermountain Region (IMR). Soon after moving to Lake Meredith National Recreation Area to work for IMR’s Texas Zone in 2022, she began a new position with DFAM as the servicewide budget analyst for the Branch of Wildland Fire. Over the past two years, she has enjoyed the challenge of seeing budget from a wider perspective of programs that benefit the NPS as a whole.

“We congratulate Steph on stepping into this new role for the division; look forward to her applying her expertise, passion, and outstanding attention to detail to the DFAM budget; and are sincerely grateful to continue working together,” said branch chief, Gillian Fay.

When she is not working you can find Steph diamond painting, baking, and spending time with her family in Oklahoma. Steph lives in Borger, Texas with her mother, Chris, and her daughter, Kailynn (Bones).
