Bradley Beaty, component command fire chief for U. S. Air Force Central Command at Shaw Air Force Base (AFB) in South Carolina, has been named as the new structural fire training program manager for the National Park Service (NPS).

Bradley began his firefighting career as a volunteer firefighter in East Saint Charles Parrish, Louisiana in October 1994. Six months later, he joined the United States Air Force. Upon completion of basic training, he attended the Louis F. Garland Fire Academy at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas. His background includes various duties in fire emergency services to include district chief, assistant chief for Operations, assistant chief of Health and Safety, assistant chief of Training, deputy fire chief, and installation fire chief. His assignments have included bases in Louisiana, Georgia, Illinois, California, and Florida. Bradley also served overseas in South Korea, Germany, and Honduras, and deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, Unified Response, Inherent Resolve, and Freedom’s Sentinel.

Throughout Bradley’s career, he has had the opportunity to serve with many different firefighters throughout the world. He is certified as an air advisor, which enabled him to lead the Sharing Mutual Knowledge and Experience (SMOKE) events with firefighters from all seven Central American countries. Additionally, Bradley has conducted many different fire and emergency services knowledge exchanges with firefighters throughout the world, including South Korea, Columbia, several countries in Europe, and Haiti. Bradley has always enjoyed working with firefighters from both the military and civilian communities.

“After a comprehensive worldwide search, we are excited to be adding Bradley to the team and look forward to him bringing his wide range of knowledge and experience to the NPS as our training program manager,” said Shane Crutcher, branch chief for NPS Structural Fire.

“I have really enjoyed my career within the United States Air Force. I am now looking forward to taking that 26-year investment of experience and apply it to the National Park Service structural firefighting program. I want to ensure our firefighters and park teammates can provide excellent customer service when it comes to providing life safety and fire protection,” Bradley said.

Bradley is a graduate of the Air Force’s Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership School and the Chief’s Leadership Course. He has also enjoyed being a mentor for the Air Force Institute of Technology, as well as a mentor for Fire and Emergency Services superintendents and the Emergency Operations Center Director’s Course. His philosophy as a leader is to take care of people so that the mission can be successful. When off duty, he enjoys spending time with his family and being in the outdoors. He has been married for 16 years to his wife Tristan and they have one child, Gabe, age 8. Bradley will be joining the staff at the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho in January 2022.
