Traffic enforcement along Highway 101 at Lake Crescent led last Friday to the arrest of one suspect and seizure of over a half pound of marijuana, a half pound of methamphetamine and a quarter pound of cocaine.
Olympic National Park rangers, with assistance from a U.S. Forest Service law enforcement officer and drug-sniffing dog, stopped a driver for a speeding violation on Friday afternoon. The dog detected drugs inside the vehicle and after a short chase, rangers were successful in taking the suspect into custody. In addition to the drugs mentioned above, a search of the vehicle yielded drug processing materials and $15,800 in cash. A 2007 Lincoln Navigator was also seized.
Olympic National Park is an area of exclusive federal jurisdiction; trained and qualified rangers perform all law enforcement duties within the park, with assistance from other agencies as requested. |
