Successful Search and Rescue of Missing Port Angeles Resident

PORT ANGELES, WA: A search and rescue near Obstruction Point ended with success last night when Sajean Geer, a 71 year old Port Angeles resident missing for several days, was located and rescued. Geer suffered from dehydration and fatigue but is safe and well.
 
The National Park Service maintained the search and rescue operation through incident command structure. The park coordinated aerial search operations Sunday afternoon with Northwest Helicopters and park personnel on board who visually located Geer around 4:25 p.m in the Lillian River drainage. Search crews were then able to find her on the ground and provided medical assistance. The U.S. Coast Guard was called in for the rescue operation.
 
At 7:15 p.m., an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles hoisted Geer and transported her to Olympic Medical Center.
 
There were 19 searchers in the field Sunday including National Park Service employees, Clallam County Search and Rescue, and Kitsap County Search and Rescue.  
 
Geer’s vehicle was identified at the Obstruction Point trailhead by park law enforcement on Saturday.  Geer was reported missing by her family July 19. Clallam County Sheriff’s Office reported the last time she was heard from was July 17 around noon based on information obtained from Geer’s family and friends.
