Getting There

With the Manu'a Islands being a good distance from the main island of Tutuila, it takes a little more planning to get to the islands and then once there to get around.

Inter-Island Flights

  • Samoa Airways: The only airline currently offering flights between Tutuila and the Manu’a Islands (Ta’ū and Ofu) is Samoa Airways. They fly only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These small planes serve park areas on Ta’ū, and from there, local boats can take you to Ofu Island.
    • Contact for Samoa Airways: +684-699-9126 or +684-699-9127 or www.samoaairways.com
    • Tip: Flexibility is important when venturing to these remote islands, as flights can be unpredictable and sometimes subject to delays or cancellations

Getting Around the Manu’a Islands

On the more remote Manu’a Islands (Ta’ū, Ofu, and Olosega), transportation options are limited:

  • M/V Manu'a Ferry Office: +684-633-5532
  • Boats: Local fishermen often provide transportation between Ta’ū and Ofu by boat. There are no formal public transportation services, so visitors must arrange transportation in advance through local contacts.

The Island of Ofu

Ofu is remote and services are extremely limited.

There is no medical care and emergency response may take days.

Visitors should to take extreme caution in all activities, come prepared, and stay within their limits.

If you do not already travel with a well-stocked first-aid kit, consider bringing one when you visit the island.

Below are a few tips to hopefully make your planning easier; Ofu is an amazing place and is worth the adventure.

As long as you plan for the adventure and are flexible with the adventure, you will have a safe and fun time.
