Northwest Arctic Heritage Center: visitor information and park headquarters

NPS Photo/Charles Olin

Noatak National Preserve is a remote and rugged landscape that lacks "traditional" NPS infrastructure and visitor facilities. Instead, the park headquarters and visitor center are located in the village of Kotzebue, Alaska, approximately 80 miles to the west. The Northwest Arctic Heritage Center is home to a museum about the Arctic ecosystem and Inupiaq culture. It also serves as the primary visitor centrer for park information, adult and children's programs, orientation, advice about travel logistics, information on park regulation, and more. Bear-resistant food containers are available for loan upon request. Visitors lookig for a book or gift to commerate their trip can find numerous options in the bookstore operated in cooperation with Alaska Geographic.
