Write Out 2023 is a collaborative project with the National Writing Project and the National Park Service, in which we celebrate all things Poetry, Prose, and Parks.

Write Out will begin October 8th and run until October 22nd

Visit your local park and then…

Notice Nature … Try a Haiku!

Seek a Sit Spot … Compose a 6-Word Story!

Create a Connection … Craft a Found Poem (or Story)!

The possibilities are endless.

Write Out is a free two-week celebration of writing, making, and sharing inspired by the great outdoors. It is a public invitation to get out and create that is supported with a series of online activities, made especially for educators, students, and families, to explore national parks and other public spaces. The goal is to connect and learn through place-based writing and sharing using the common hashtag #writeout.

Write Out runs every October and includes Indigenous People’s Day and the National Day on Writing. Themes change year-to-year and overlap with the monthly themes of the National Park Service

Here at Nicodemus we're challenging you to write a poem based on where you live, like this anonymous Nicodemus Poet did in 1905.
