Notice to the Public for the temporary restriction of access to and public use limit in certain areas of the National Mall and Memorial Parks, Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

The National Park Service (NPS) will continue to impose temporary closures to the public as described below. A map illustrating the closed park area is attached, and the closed area will be delineated by fencing or other physical barriers on-site. The closures will be lifted as soon as they are no longer necessary to protect NPS resources and provide for public safety during restoration work at the site, restoring access to the public as soon as practicable. Violation is prohibited.

Specifically, there will be temporary visitor access restrictions at the following locations:

Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool
The following areas will continue to be closed to visitor access until Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (all times local).
  • The Reflecting Pool
  • The walkways adjacent to the Reflecting Pool
  • The grass median on the north side of the Reflecting Pool between the walkways adjacent to the pool and the North Elm Walk (the exterior walkways north and south of the reflecting pool).
  • The grass median on the south side of the Reflecting Pool between the walkways adjacent to the pool and the South Elm Walk (the exterior walkways north and south of the reflecting pool).
The closures will be lifted or reduced as soon as it is no longer necessary, restoring access to the public as soon as practicable.
