Notice to Public: Extension of temporary closure of parkland around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

The National Park Service (NPS) is extending the temporary closure to the public of parkland around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, begun on June 25, 2026, as described below. A map illustrating the closed park area is attached, and the closed area will be delineated by fencing or other physical barriers on-site. The closures will be lifted as soon as they are no longer necessary to protect NPS resources and provide for public safety, restoring access to the public as soon as practicable. Violation is prohibited.

Specifically, there will be temporary visitor access restrictions at the following locations:

Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

The following areas will continue to be closed to visitor access until Monday, August 10, 2026 at 11:59 p.m., local time (see figure 1). The footprint of the closure area will be reduced upon equipment removal and some areas may reopen before August 10 (see figure 2).
