Beginning on June 10, 2026, through July 24, 2026, local time the following National Park Service (NPS) areas will be closed or have public use limits imposed. A map illustrating the closed park and district areas is attached.
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 1.5, beginning on June 10, 2026, the National Park Service (NPS) is imposing a temporary closure of, and public use limit in, certain designated parklands at the National Mall and Memorial Parks in conjunction with the Great American State Fair and the FIFA World Cup Fan Zone, as delineated in the maps below and as further delineated by fencing or other physical barriers. Public entry may be temporarily suspended for safety if attendance in the park area is deemed too dense to safely support additional entry. These closures and public use limits are necessary to provide for public and participant safety and event security needs, as confirmed by the evaluation of the United States Park Police. These temporary closures, further described below, will remain in place in some areas through approximately July 24, 2026.
This amendment to the June 17 record of determination for these events extends the closure date for some National Mall parklands through 11:59 on July 24 and roads through approximately 08:00 p.m. on July 22. These extensions are necessary to ensure worker and public safety during the removal of temporary structures and clearing of the site. This work involves moving and loading heavy equipment, staging debris from disassembly of temporary structures, and trucks moving in and out of the event site. These activities could endanger pedestrians and vehicles if the public were permitted in the area. The United States Park Police (USPP) has confirmed these closures are necessary for public safety and that less restrictive measures would not suffice.
Closures will be lifted as soon as they are no longer necessary, restoring access to the public as soon as practicable. Violation is prohibited.
Unless otherwise noted, it is anticipated that USPP personnel will restrict pedestrian and vehicle access at the following locations and times—all times are local.
Specifically, there will be temporary visitor access restrictions of the following locations:
