NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

March 16, 2026: The National Park Service is temporarily closing Fort Washington Park to conduct deer management operations. Closures will occur between 4:00 pm and 6:00 am on select days from March 16, 2026, to April 15, 2026.

Violation is prohibited.

This temporary closure is necessary for the safety of visitors and staff during deer management activities, conducted in alignment with the National Capital Parks - East White-tailed Deer Management Plan. These operations aim to manage the deer population and protect park resources. During closures, NPS staff will inspect the area to ensure it is clear of visitors, and signage and on-site staff will restrict access to closed roads and trails.

The National Park Service appreciates the public’s cooperation in this matter.
