Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes presided over the construction of the Department's Washington, DC headquarters and its murals depicting the work of its bureaus. Jackson was commissioned to create a set of four murals depicting significant surveys for the new building. He is pictured here with Secretary Ickes at an exhibit of his USGS photographs.
