(William Henry Jackson and Charles Aldrich)

William Henry Jackson
September 5, 1875

Jackson photographed the harshness of camp life, down to the tears and patches on his trousers. His tent mate, naturalist Charles Aldrich, had their tent raised above the ground on a wooden platform, likely to provide relief from the heat and rain-soaked soil.
