Dear Emsey,

I have not heard from you for a long time but suppose you are all alive. I should like to know though for certain. We are all well. Buckie has arrouse[sic] and left us again for college. The Col is ordered for the Yellowstone expedition. I feel some anxiety about him. Sherman tells me the Indians outlaws are most treacherous.

I’ve leave here on Thursday June 5th for Long Branch. You still intend coming there do you not?- I hope so. Brother Faer has journal? his past. You know from his letters I should think to feels very happy at the change. Nellie is keeping house this summer just across the street from Annes very nearly so ___. Though only for the summer I believe. Dear little Jesse has not yet returned. We expect him soon. He is in California. Hoping soon or hear from and see you for I will close so-the___ love grow all to you and yours. Affectionately Your Sister Julia"
