The bell is engraved "To Our President Perry M. Shoemaker from His Staff of the Delaware, Lackawanna, & Western Railroad Company October 1960." Shoemaker was the last president of the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad before it merged and became the Erie Lackawanna Railroad.
