Despite the presence of hired help, Mrs. Lincoln usually prepared the evening meals herself. Although the dinnerware seen in this view is similar to the Lincolns’, original dinnerware is found elsewhere in this virtual exhibit. The table allowed the family to dine together. It was here where Mary taught her young boys proper dining etiquette.
