Boys' Bedroom

When the Lincolns added a full second story to their house in 1856, oldest son Robert acquired his own bedroom after sharing the sleeping loft with his younger brothers.  Three years later, he left for a year of prep school in New Hampshire followed by enrollment in Harvard College.  Robert’s younger brothers, Willie and Tad, quickly claimed the room and its window access to the roof over the back porch.
