Ernest Wadsworth Longfellow

The second son of iconic poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Ernest considered a career as a military engineer before pursuing a successful career as an artist. This work depicting the Moose River in Maine belonged to Ernest's sister Alice. She often went on camping trips to the Maine woods, including a trip to the Moose River in 1877.
