This leather halter was used to show Warren’s Herefords at fairs and sales in the 1940s and 1950s. The herdsman was an important employee. He was knowledgeable in the proper feeding, fitting, and showing of the valuable Hereford stock. “Fitting” basically refers to grooming an animal for show.
