Side Chair

This chair is thought to have been used by Clara Barton at her desk in her office. According to oral tradition, Clara Barton had the back sawed off this chair so that she could sit ramrod straight while working to signify that she was still able to serve as the President of the American Red Cross to any detractors who decried her age, ability , etc.
