Silverware
Made by S. Kirk
Baltimore, Maryland

Lee silver, used at Arlington, engraved with a squirrel and acorn from the Lee crest. The squirrel and the acorn represent the preparation for winter by taking the acorn and burying it. The family motto: “Ne Incautus Futuri” – “Not Unmindful of the Future” – reinforces the notion of familial responsibility that guided Robert E. Lee throughout his life. He took his family’s belief in preparedness and responsibility very seriously.
