Want to work at a local National Park? Monocacy National Battlefield is currently recruiting individuals to be a part of our Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crew for the summer of 2014. The park, located south of Frederick, Maryland, was established to commemorate the Civil War battle that took place on July 9, 1864. The crew works outdoors on projects such as building and maintaining trails, removing and building fences, painting fences and buildings, improving wildlife habitat, and wildlife monitoring and management. In addition to work projects, we'll be learning about the environment while helping make the battlefield a better place to visit. The positions are for ages 15 to 18, are 40 a week, and last for 8 weeks - from June 16th to August 8th. There are approximately 4 positions to be filled and crew members will earn &7.25 per hour. Come enjoy a great work experience, with great people, while having fun preserving our parks. Fill out the application found at www.nps.gov/gettinginvolved/youthprograms/upload/ycc_application.pdf and return the application to the park before May 2, 2014.
