Monocacy National Battlefield in cooperation with the Alice Ferguson Foundation will host the 24th annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup on Saturday, April 14. This is an event to clean litter from our watershed and strives to eliminate trash from our waterways, public lands, and communities by 2013.

Monocacy National Battlefield will conduct a cleanup on the Best Farm along the Monocacy River. The project will primarily consist of trash removal that has accumulated in the park over the year from flooding.

Volunteers will meet at the Park Visitor Center at 5201 Urbana Pike; registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Preregistration is required and volunteers should be 10 years of age and older. All volunteers are required to be present for the safety briefing at 9:00 a.m. Interested parties that fail to attend the safety briefing will not be permitted to participate.

Dress for field work; trousers, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes are recommended. Each volunteer should bring a pair of work gloves. Water will be provided throughout the day. In the event of inclement weather the event will be canceled. For preregistration and further information contact Brett Spaulding.
