On December 13, 2014, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monocacy National Battlefield will join with the Frederick Historic Sites Consortium and numerous other historic sites in Frederick County to mark the start of the holiday season. Visitors are invited to view period decorations that will deck the halls of the historic 18th century Thomas House. Children can make a homemade ornament similar to those made by children 150 years ago. The second floor of the Thomas House will be opened, allowing visitors a rare glimpse of rooms and exhibits detailing the evolution of the home from the late 1700s to the present day. For the first time, 19th Century holiday songs and carols will be performed by the Gilmore's Light Ensemble. The Gilmore's Light Ensemble plays and sing traditional 19th Century holiday music using hammered dulcimer, guitar, banjo, mandolin and accordion wearing clothing of the mid-1800s.

Parking for this free event will be at the Thomas Farm parking area located at 4460 Baker Valley Road.
