FREDERICK: Experience over 220 years of history that truly is the story of America. The land encompassing the Best Farm has been home to Native Americans, immigrants seeking a new beginning in America, and a family literally caught in the middle of the Civil War. The Best Farm at Monocacy National Battlefield has a unique history that spans three centuries.

Join park staff on June 18-19 for a rare glimpse inside the farm’s main house.  Docents will be on hand to show visitors part of the main house and discuss the cluster of historic structures, as well as describe the village that housed the enslaved laborers from the 18th century plantation that was revealed through recent archeological investigations.

Formal Programs about the history of the Best Farm will be conducted in the historic stone barn at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.

Living historians will also be on-hand to demonstrate life in the 18th and 19th Century.

The Best Farm is located across from the park visitor center at  5106 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704.
