Monocacy National Battlefield Celebrates the Establishment of the National Park Service

 On August 25, 2013, Monocacy National Battlefield will honor the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the National Park Service.  Congress established the National Park Service on August 25, 1916 to conserve the national parks and their natural and historic resources for this an future generations.  For the first time, Monocacy National Battlefield will host a special exhibit on the evolution of the iconic National Park Ranger uniform. Special programs, exhibits, and children's activities will also be offered throughout the day.  Special programs will focus on the history of the National Park Service along with regular program on the Battle of Monocacy.  Kids of all ages can join the park's Bison mascot for cake and punch for 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

All programs are free and will take place at the park's visitor center.  The complete program schedule is as follows:

10:00 a.m. - National Park Service From Head to Toe

11:00 a.m. - Junction Journey

12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Cake and Punch with Monocacy's Bison Mascot

1:00 p.m. - Hands-on-History

3:00 p.m. - Race to Washington

4:00 p.m. - National Park Service From Head to Toe
