FREDERICK: Ever wonder what it’s like to be a Park Ranger at Monocacy National Battlefield? Rangers do everything from Law Enforcement, to building fences, studying animal behavior, and teaching about the Civil War. Join us to learn more, but try not to get soaked if you take a close look at the fire truck. There will be hands-on history & nature activities for kids of all ages.

While here, check out our new exhibit, “America’s Best Idea: Celebrating 100 years.”  See historic ranger uniforms and learn more about the history of the park service and the five national parks in Frederick County.

Visit the camp of living historians as they spend the weekend training for upcoming summer programs. Watch as they go through the infantry and artillery drills, and ask just how itchy are those uniforms!!

Join us later that evening to watch the movie Glory (R) in the Thomas Barn at 8:30 p.m. The barn is located at stop #4 on the auto tour, at 4460 Baker Valley Road. Feel free to bring a comfy lawn chair, blanket, or snacks. Chairs will also be provided.
