The National Park Service (NPS) is pleased to announce that Monocacy National Battlefield (MONO) in Frederick, Maryland will host a Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program for the summer of 2015. The program will consist of five paid positions, beginning 22 June 2015 and ending 7 August 2015. The tentative work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Depending on work progress throughout the summer, an alternative work schedule may be proposed. The duty station will be the Gambrill Mill located at MONO.

The YCC is perhaps the most well recognized youth program in the NPS and has been instrumental in introducing young Americans to conservation opportunities in national parks since the program was created in 1970. This summer employment program permits young men and women to enjoy working, earning, and learning by completing projects that further the development and conservation of the nation's natural resources.

The 2015 work projects at MONO include trail maintenance and repair, exotic vegetation removal, site restoration, invasive species monitoring, nursery upkeep, and bridge construction. Opportunities for environmental education are also incorporated throughout the program. Applicants must be willing to work outside daily, in hot and humid weather conditions. Enrollees will be chosen by random drawing.

The program is open to young men and women 15 through 18 years of age. Minorities and special populations are encouraged to apply to assure workplace diversity. All applicants who meet eligibility requirements listed on the application will be considered.

Any student who may be interested in participating in the program should complete an application and mail it to the following address no later than 15 May 2015.
