Introduction

People have been living, working, and playing in the Mojave Desert for thousands of years. Many of them have left marks on the land that can still be seen by visitors today. The rock art, mining ruins, historical cabins, and grandiose buildings throughout the Preserve hint at innumerable stories. The Mojave Preserve is proud to steward historical and archaeological sites and to thereby protect these stories for future generations.

As you explore the Preserve in person, take time to slow down and appreciate the Preserve's historical and cultural treasures. Be sure to leave all structures and artifacts as you found them so visitors who come after you can also enjoy their discovery and exploration.
