Visitor safety and resource protection take priority at Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument. Key points when visiting us are:

  • Exercise caution while driving and pulling on and off the road during the Mill Springs Battlefield Driving Tour and when accessing parking lots at trailheads.

  • Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is located in a rural setting which will include a mix of vehicle traffic, slowing moving vehicles, and higher probability of encountering both domestic and wildlife crossing the roads.

  • Be observant for trail conditions. Bring water and snacks for longer walks. Wear a hat and sunscreen year-round.

  • Follow the posted speed limits on park and local roads.

  • Keep dogs on prescribed leashes. Only service animals are permitted inside facilities.

  • Wear closed toe shoes, long pants, and socks to deter insects, including bees, wasps, and ticks, as well as snakes.

  • Explore with care. Mill Springs Battlefield has many uneven surfaces. Remain on designated trails and walkways.

  • Please stay off historic earthwork fortifications and structures.

  • Keep a respectful distance from wildlife.

  • Put valuables out of sight and lock your vehicle.

  • In case of an emergency, call 911.
