Mill Springs Battlefield became a new national monument administered by the National Park Service through the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (Public Law 116-9), signed on March 12, 2019. Limited visitor services will continue in partnership with non-profit group the Mill Springs Battlefield Association. The NPS is developing a management plan to ensure preservation of the Monument’s historic and cultural resources while providing an outstanding visitor experience. Planning efforts include open houses and public meetings to gather feedback from the public, as well as federal, state, and local agencies, as well as other stakeholders.
